Celebrity MasterChef

TX 7

Celebrity MasterChef returns for its twelfth series, with 20 familiar faces from the world of show business and music, all hoping to follow in the footsteps of last year’s champion Alexis Conran and take the 2017 title.

The hunt for a champion continues as we welcome the final five celebrities to the challenge in the last of the heats. Trying to impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace are Actor Brian Bovell, Popstar Jaymi Hensley, Singer and Actor Patti Boulaye, Comedian and Actor Abdullah Afzal and TV Personality Reverend Kate Bottley.

The first challenge for the five hopefuls is the Mystery Box, the infamous test of imagination and creativity. The contestants must use the ingredients in tonight’s box, which include chicken, chickpeas, puff pastry and pomegranate as well as a basic larder, to create just one dish – sweet or savoury. With nerves running high and just 50 minutes to create something from scratch, the celebrities must think on their feet to impress the judges.

With the first test over, there’s no let up as the celebrities face paying customers for the first time as they are sent to work during lunchtime service in two busy London restaurants.

Patti, Jaymi and Abdullah are sent to The Game Bird to work under Gordon Ramsay protégé James Durrant, while Brian and Reverend Kate must try to impress and master the dishes at contemporary Indian restaurant Jamavaar.

In the final test of culinary creativity, it’s back to the MasterChef headquarters, as the contestants are asked to prepare a two-course menu of their own design. The celebrities work furiously in a last attempt to prove themselves to the judges, because at the end of this test one of them will be going home.

TX 8

Celebrity MasterChef returns for its eleventh series, with 20 familiar faces from the world of show business and music all hoping to take the 2017 title.

Tonight is the last of the heats and the battle for the last two places in the semi-finals reaches its climax.

Tonight’s first challenge is a Knowledge and Skills test, where the celebrities have the terrifying task of facing judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace one by one and demonstrate their ability to identify a tray of ingredients, peppers and shellfish before being asked to make tempura prawns, vegetables and a dipping sauce in just fifteen minutes.

The celebrities are then split into teams, and are sent out on their first mass catering challenge. Today they will have to make lunch at Kings College Dental Institute for 120 staff and students.

With an array of ingredients including mince, seabass and chicken breasts and a wide range of fruit and vegetables, the two teams must devise, prepare and serve the lunch catering for various tastes while creating meat based, vegetarian and dessert dishes in volume. In the heat of the kitchen the celebrities will have to rely on teamwork skills as well as their culinary ones to triumph.

Then it’s back to MasterChef headquarters as the battle for a semi-final place reaches its climax. The four celebrities must now cook a faultless two course meal that will not only be judged by John and Gregg, but also by past Celebrity MasterChef champions Sophie Thompson (2014) and Lisa Faulkner (2010), and previous finalist Andi Peters (2008), all former survivors of this landmark moment.

With their last chances to impress for a semi-final place, emotions in the kitchen are running high, and the pressure proves too much for some contestants. The celebrity judges deliver some frank and cutting responses to some of the dishes, but others fare much better.

This is the last chance for the contestants to earn themselves a semi-final place and come one step closer to winning the title of Celebrity MasterChef 2017. For those who don’t make the grade the journey ends here.

Nature is the theme of episode three’s challenges. The five remaining teams must complete an Unplanned Build where they must create as many miniature unique and identifiable insects, birds and wild animals as possible in surprise 15 minute intervals using no more than 15 bricks per creature, and the Planned Build sees comedian Bill Bailey and professional LEGO artist, Sean Kenney judge the creations made by the pairs as they populate a section of a nature walk with a rich cornucopia of plants, flowers, and characterful animals. Only three pairs will make it through to the final round.
